Sunday – peak 5 (of 6) – Slieve Donard

After catching the late evening ferry from Stranraer, the Legs Go team arrived in Belfast at about 22:15 pm. After a short drive to Newcastle, the team started their walk around 11:45pm. Finished the walk just after 4am – with the sun rising in the distance …

Ellice is on the top of the world!

After climbing to the top of Ben Nevis in Scotland (the highest peak in the British Isles) I felt like I was on top of the world. Well, as a Scotsman I would say that, wouldn’t I?

Quotes

Jack: “I’ve got improvisation going on all over”

Raju: “What is that?”

Vish: “Where’s the food?”

Frances: “What’s with the chit-chat?”

Ellice: “Is everyone ready?”

Sunday – peak 4 (of 6) – Ben Nevis

We started up Britain’s highest mountain – Ben Nevis (4408 feet). Not a cloud in the sky – with sun forecast for the whole walk. Unfortunately there was a slight mist on the peak, although the sun was threatening to break through. With the mist clearing we’d peaked too soon (pun intended) to see out from the peak – maybe just as well with 1000 foot drops near the peak. As well as some snow still around near the summit (yes – snow) we also met quite a few teams on their climb upwards while we were descending (obviously some teams didn’t fancy a 5am start again!). Some of the pictures today include those teams (all helping to raise money for WaterAid too – so worthy of inclusion in our blog!). With a time of 5 hours and 48 minutes, it was off to Fort William for a shower before the next stage – providing a chance to check our sun tans from Scotland too.
